MCOBA Weekend 2009 - Balik Kolet
April 25, 2009

When we came back from Indonesia, we drove straight to Kuala Kangsar to attend The Malay College Old Boys weekend, 2009. This is the time for us (old boys) who are still 17 years old at heart trapped in aging body to recall all those enjoyable moments we had back then.
I had my wife to join me and we stayed at Kota Lama Kanan, with frequent visit to Rumah Pakcik for the delightful ikan keli goreng.
Enjoy the picts.

From left : Kerel, Bhita, Fugu (or Fuhu as my wife said hehehe), Fei and Kydin. The class of ‘97.

Football game between the Old Boys and present boys. Walking on the right was Yasser Arafat (Class of 2001). He shouldn’t be walking, waiting for the ball. Find some space boy. The Old Boys scored once and the young ones couldn’t get anywhere near the penalty box. Kesian diorang.

It was very clear that the referree was on the present boys’ side. They stood together most of the time on the side line. Even if we’ve been smacked face down to the earth, he would just indicate that it was a dive. Makan rumput le Yeop.

My wife standing in front of the Pavillion.

We can see the Cheering Boys from far away. One of the memorable tradition that I liked the most is to be able to stand together by the field, providing melodious roar which gave goosebumps even to the toughest MC All Blacks rugger. A vital part of the success of our Rugby/Football/Hockey team all these years was played by our Cheerleaders and the rest of the budak kolet. Unbeatable combination.

From Left : Budak 99 (sorry tak ingat), Kydin, Kerel and Razif ‘99

Casual chat during the rugby game.

My wife and Fei’s wife. It’s amazing on how they can endure 2 days of ignorance from respective hubbies who were heavily-occupied with repeated stories originated way back from 1993 and still can smile for us. Marilah ke old boy weekend lagi hehehe.

Back in 1997, we only have one compulsory posing style that must be adhered by all Budak Kolet, which was ‘tengok langit’ instead of straight to the camera. It adds depth and character to the boys and increase the level of ‘machoness’ 10 times more. But this time, Shkib has come up with a different style which will give us the new look even the perut is way bigger than we thought.

Ahhhh the ‘tengok langit’ pose which Fei failed to execute.

Bergambar di depan Senior Common Room (Senior Comm). Banyak sejarah pahit manis kat sini. Camera dipetik oleh Munzir Fauzi (Class of ‘98)

This is my new compulsory shot. Us by the side of Overfloor (or overflow?). Selamat Tinggal Kuala. Actually kitorang tak pernah keluar dari Kolet. Just pergi kerja kejap mencari nafkah, then boleh balik Old Boy Weekend eheheh.
